Description
A wonderful Adams & Westlake brass top bell bottom frame made for the Connecticut River Railroad. This frame features ice spikes and a glass fount so it is New England. The lid has a very pronounced C.R.R.R. stamping. This is typical on older A&W frames. The frame also uses a glass fount so it is more likely to be New England than anywhere else. The fount also has the shallow glass collar for holding the fount. The bottom of the bell has the ice spikes and the A&W patent information. The frame has a "spin down" vent assembly rather than a spring assembly to hold the globe. It is a standard 5 3/8" size globe frame.
The globe is a fine 5 3/8" size with an extended base and CRCC cast in smaller than average size in a rectangular panel. The globe is thick. This small lettering is not common among New England lanterns. This is a great display piece. The pictures make it look crooked but it's nice and straight.
