A FINE LARGE CHINESE CARVED 'KIRIN' LONGQUAN CELADON BARBED-RIM plate
Carved in the centre with a Kirin, the QiLin was represented as an oxen-hoofed animal with a dragon-like head surmounted by a pair of horns and flame-like head ornaments. The reliefs sides with upright floral sprays radiating around cavetto, the conforming exterior with further floral sprays radiating around the low foot ring, covered with a light celadon-green glaze, the underside base with an unglazed circle burnt orange in the firing.
