Calvin Coolidge Sesquicentennial Presidential Appointment Plus Archive of Eight Associated Historic Documents
JOHN CALVIN COOLIDGE (July 4, 1872 - January 5, 1933). 30th President of the United States (1923–1929) a Republican, born on the 4th of July.
An important Archive including a Special Presidential Appointment to the Sesquicentennial Committee, Signed, “Calvin Coolidge” as President, Choice Very Fine. Highlighting this historic Sesquicentennial Related Archive lot is a Typewritten Document measuring 10.25” x 14” which reads:

“Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States of America.” To all who shall see these Presents, Greeting: KNOW YE, That reposing special trust and confidence in the Integrity and Ability of W.J. Milroy, of Washington, I do appoint him a Member of the part of the State of Washington of the National Advisory Commission to the Sesquicentennial Exhibition Association and do authorize and empower him to execute and fulfill the duties of this commission with all the powers and privileges thereunto of right appertaining subject to the conditions prescribed by law.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have caused the Seal of the United States to be hereunto affixed. -- DONE at the City of Washington this twenty-third day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and fiftieth. -- By the President: -- (Signed) Calvin Coolidge.”

1. This Official Typed Presidential Document is also Signed by Frank B. Kellogg, as Coolidge’s Secretary of State. The original trasmittal envelope is also included, addressed in manuscript to Mr. W.J. Milroy, Olympia, Wash. Crisp and bold with its large embossed Seal fully intact, faint foxing at left selvege and a paper clip stain at top left. It bears the “Department of State, Official Business” stamp in one corner, and Postmark stamp from Washington, D.C. dated Feb. 27, 1926, 7:30 PM in another corner. Very Rare.

3. Typewritten Letter (unsigned) from John D. Cardinell, Official Photographer and Publisher for the Sesquicentennial.

4. Typewritten Letter signed by W.J. Milroy, member of the National Advisory Commission to the Sesquicentennial Exhibition Association.

5. Typewritten Letter (unsigend) from A.L. Sutton to W.J. Milroy, detailing preparations for the Sesquicentennial.

6. Typewritten Letter (2 pages) upon Department of State letterhead to W.J. Milroy, signed by an assistant secretary.

7. Four-page Typewritten List of the persons appointed by the President as members of the National Advisory Commission to the Sesquicentennial Exhibition Association.

8. Single Printed Page Public Resolution - No. 62 - 68th Congress (S.J. Res. 187) detailing the Joint Resolution Providing for the cooperation of the United States in the Sesquicentennial exhibition, commemorating the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, and for other purposes. An important and historic Rare Archive, directly related to the American Sesquicentennial celebration.
