Description
A fine example of a 2 colored globe in a beautiful solid brass frame. There is a brass plate with STEAMER soldered to the base area. The bail is a hollow ring and the top area has a nice fancy reverse curve. There are 12 vertical wires for protection. One of the 12 vertical wires is loose. There is one horizontal wire. Few of the verticals were soldered to the horizontal wire. There are no wire wraps on the joints. The verticals are what I call bicycle spokes because they have big fat ends. that mount through the top assembly like a bicycle hub. The frame has a nice skirted base to hold the globe in place. No plaster was used to hold the globe in the frame
The globe is an outstanding example of the two color hand blown globe. There are flanges to both the top and bottom so that the globe seats well. The globe has no markings and it measures a 5 1/4" visible area. A great display lantern.
