Condition
First edition of Elzevirian first issue. An important work on the topography and ancient monuments of Turkey and the regions overlooking the Bosphorus. This book, the result of prolonged research and studies, is one of the founding texts of Byzantine archaeological literature. It is also particularly valuable because it gives us the lost opera of Byzantium Dionysius, Anaplous Bosporou, which is a synthetic translation. The beautiful figurative facepiece features the Bosphorus Vedute and the depiction of Europe abducted by Zeus in the form of a bull. Willems 366; Boucher de la Richarderie, II, p. 52; Rahir 347; Blackmer 686; Cox, I, pp. 222-223; Berghman, 1895. Missing at Abebey.
