This lot consists of a large hand-painted oil painting on unstretched canvas, attributed to Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). "Vincent" is hand-written at bottom center in the white portion of the vase. Image depicts a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers radiating from a vase. The image is cast upon a backdrop of vibrant yellows that punctuate the texture of the artist's generous brush strokes. This piece, perhaps a study, resembles the famous "Sunflowers" painting by Van Gogh. This painting is done in the vivid, Post-Impressionist style for which Van Gogh so so well known. Unstrectched canvas measures approximately 38.5" x 31".

Paper label en verso reads "Vincent Van Gogh 14 Sunflowers". Ink stamp also en verso reads "Galerie Vallauris". A third illegible ink stamp can also be seen en verso.

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a major Post-Impressionist painter. He was a Dutch artist whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. His output includes portraits, self portraits, landscapes and still lifes of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. Van Gogh drew as a child but did not paint until his late twenties; he completed many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints.
