This lot consists of a hand painted sponge relief with granular material on board, attributed to Modern Artist Yves Klein (French, 1928-1962). A layer of dark blue resembling International Klein Blue covers an abstract mosaic of various sponge pieces and smaller granular material. The viewer is immediately drawn in to this warm, flowing composition. En verso hand written in blue is "Yves Klein" along with the starburst symbol. All elements are complete and firmly attached. Unframed piece measures approximately 11.5" x 8".

Piece is accompanied by a small hand written note. The note is written in a foreign language other than the top word "From:" Below the "From" appears to be a woman's name along with a Bulgarian address.

Overall piece is bright and vibrant. When laid on a flat surface the board does not lay completely flat. Two very small holes on top where piece was likely hung by a nail. Some color variations throiughout piece, minor age-related crazing. Overall signature and composition are strong, vibrant and show very well.
