From the same family as lot 6 in this auction are these three sixth plate images. They came out of an old house in Massillon, Ohio. I assume the old man in this lot is grandfather of the soldier. The mat on his image is signed "Z P McMillen"... McMillen was a well established photographer in Newark, Ohio well into the Civil War era. This ambrotype is circa 1855. It is housed in a mat, frame, and glass only. No Case. The other civilian sixth plate shows a subject who looks very much like our Yankee Soldier. The civilian image dates 1859-1860. My feeling is that it is another image of the soldier, or a picture of a brother bearing the family resemblance. It is in a half case. The soldier has his Model 1861 Springfield musket and all his leather accoutrements, plus his bayonet. A super image in a half case.

The insurance and signature service are optional, but there can be no insurance for theft or loss without the UPS signature required, service. If you decline signature service and/or insurance and the neighbor kid steals the box off your porch after UPS leaves it.... or if UPS delivers it to the wrong address, or if the UPS truck crashes and burns… You are out of luck. I highly recommend the insurance and signature service. We can also ship this via USPS uninsured for $8.00, but again, this is entirely at the buyer’s risk for loss or damage.
