Sixth plate ambrotype in full case. Soldier has wonderful "tough-guy" sprout of chin whiskers, it is a great goatee style beard. His greatcoat (overcoat) reminds me of a Connecticut image or images I saw at some point. It has a pocket in the body, a fold-down collar, and a two button frog at the collar. The knapsack is either a patent type or state issue. The image is definitely New England in my opinion. I think it is likely 1st Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. Overall excellent with some light spotting in the periphery. Full leatherette case.
