Description
King James Bible-1613 -1614, Pilate's letter, Greek Translations not Correct!
The Early Unique Editions of the Early King James being 1613-1614
THE HOLY BIBLE-CONTAINING THE OLD TESTAMENT AND THE NEW
NEWLY TRANSLATED OUT OF THE ORIGINAL TONGUES
London: Robert Barker, 1613-14
After the 1611 version the early versions of the King James being the 1612-1614 copies still contained many printer's typos and mistranslated statements, although there were more than a couple.
Did Pilot really put a letter on the cross John 19:19. This Late 1613 and Early 1614 had these mistakes as the Greek Bible was still being translated to English. Most Bibles from this period found have owners markings correcting these problems. This Bible has no correction Markings and is as it was printed during the period. By the late 1614's many of the corrections had been made to print.
Because the Greek New Testament was written in Koine Greek, certain words were mistranslated.
It is also called a Great Letter Bible because of the Book of John Chapter 19, Verse 19, mistakenly reads, Pilate wrote a letter instead of Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross
also contains a misprint of Emorite's instead of Amorites in Genesis 10:16.
Bible Printing between 1613 and 1614, Mid December through Mid-January
Herbert notes it as the true 1613 folio edition of King James Bible, easily distinguishable from the other editions by its smaller type resulting in 72 lines rather than 59.
