Framed portrait painting of a young man Charles Linder Pope (1881 - 1898). He was awarded a special medal for swimming from the Boston Athletic Association on May 1, 1881. His father was Albert Augustus Pope, a Brevet Lieutenant Colonel in the Union Army and later a bicycle manufacturer of Columbia and Excelsior Duplex bicycles under the company Pope Manufacturing Company in Boston.
