Description
This is a Florence and Cripple Creek Railroad Adlake Reliable switchmans lantern. Used on the narrow gauge railroad that connected the town of Florence, Colorado with Cripple Creek, Colorado starting in 1894, until a washout in 1912 put the road out of commission for good. Cast on the rim with F & C.C.R.R., the clear globe is etched with F & C.C. as well. Patent dates of 1897, 1908, 1909, 1911, and 1912 cast on the rim. Lantern also is numbered 360 on the rim. Correct original fount and brass burner. Lots of excellent original tinware shows through on this example. Super-rare, original piece that is impossible to find and rarely do these come up for sale. Strike while the iron is hot to obtain this rare piece of Colorado narrow gauge railroad history! Originally obtained by the consignor from the collection of a long time well-known Western/Colorado railroad enthusiast.
