Description
Elvis Presley's 1976 American Heart Association Nevada Appreciation Plaque W/Letter of Provenance - This appreciation plaque was presented to Elvis Presley in 1976 from the Nevada Affiliate of the American Heart Association. The plaque features Elvis' name along with the inscription "With Deepest Gratitude For Your Outstanding Contribution Toward The Conquest of Heart Disease". According to the accompanying letter of provenance, this plaque was presented to Elvis by an employee of the Association during a performance around Christmas of 1976 at the Las Vegas Hilton. The gentleman was first introduced to Colonel Tom Parker by his neighbor who was a Hilton employee. The letter states in part, "I was supposed to give it to him after the show but got so caught up in the moment that I was able to present him the gift at the side of the stage. He briefly stopped the show and thanked me for the plaque." The letter goes on to detail his meeting with Elvis after the performance, when Elvis gifted him sunglasses, a diamond music note ring, and a 3 carat box car diamond ring which were donated to the association and raised funds at the association's Christmas event later that month, at which Colonel Parker was a guest. The letter goes on to state, "Tom returned the plaque to me that I presented to Elvis and requested a few changes be made. I chose to have another plaque made and returned to his offices." The lot also includes a photo of Elvis on stage holding what appears to be this plaque. Measurements: 12 x 8.75 inches.
