Item Details
Description
A pair of tie-dye tops, dyed by The Lovin' Spoonful founder, John Sebastian.

The first cotton long-sleeved top features a blue and purple tie-dye design, a three-button closure neckline with silver-tone heart buttons, an eye embroidery on the front, and a floral embroidered patch on the back, labeled "Williams," no size present. The second ribbed cotton long-sleeved top features a purple, blue, yellow, green, and orange tie-dye design, and four patches/embroideries on the front, no size or label present. Please note: holes and fraying present from age and use.

The ensemble was dyed, c. late 1960s- early 1970s, at the 46-acre artistic community near Studio City called "The Farm." At The Farm, Sebastian was nicknamed "guitar fingers" due to his tight grip on his fabric (strength gained from playing the guitar) during the tie-dye process.
