Item Details
Description
An Epiphone Les Paul 100 electric guitar, serial #0901230988, in cherry sunburst finish, signed by Bob Seger to Randy Bachman, who has sold 40 million records worldwide as a member of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and as a solo artist.

Randy’s first encounter with Bob Seger’s music in the 1960s came via his local radio station Deejay, but not in the way you’d think. Clarence “Doc” Steen was a broadcaster for CKRC radio station, a favorite of Randy’s, though he had befriended many others there. Every Monday, the broadcasters would pick the records they’d be playing, and the ones that weren’t playing were tossed out. And ‘tossed out’ meant ‘give ‘em to Randy.’

“Doc steen lived a block away from me in Garden City, Winnipeg, and I would either go to the station or he’d bring them home: a box of throwaways! In there I’d find really great singles that they could’t play on CKY or CKRC, old blues records, and some singles by Bob Seger. I heard the song “2+2=?,” “Get Out of Denver,” and “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.” I love this guy.”

Years later, once Bachman-Turner Overdrive hit it big with “Takin’ Care of Business,” band manager Bruce Allen told the band, ‘You’re headlining now, so you get to pick your opening act.’ Without hesitation, Randy requested Bob Seger.

“[We] found him playing a bar somewhere in Michigan and took him on the road. He played over 200 dates with BTO over two years. He agreed to open the show and do all of his hit songs. And that rejuvenated his catalog with Capitol and Warner Brothers. Suddenly he’s selling records and people are looking. He was really, really a great opening act.”

Years later, the two reconnected, and that’s where this Epiphone guitar comes into play.

"I went to see him in Toronto maybe about seven or eight years ago, he had a big return back because they’d used “Like a Rock” in a Chevy commercial. He was a big, really. Hot commodity. So I went to see him and had the night with his band, spent the night with him. And then, I got this guitar. A very cool little Les Paul 100.”

An Epiphone Les Paul 100 has a mahogany body with a maple top, a bolt-on mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fretboard, two uncovered humbucker pickups, stop tailpiece, and Tune-O-Matic bridge. Signed, “To Randy Bachman, Keep Rockin’ Buddy, All my best, Bob Seger.”

Includes brown hardshell case with a black interior
