Splendid silver serving vessel with handles. Fitted lid of canine head and coronet finial. Extensive repousse work.
George IV-era work, marked on underside "Reid & Son", assayed in Newcastle. Footed base to tureen. These articles where meant to impress and did so with lavish multi course meals and the presentation of the food being as important as the flavor. This stunning piece is a magnificent example of Georgian silver workmanship and would glisten in the candlelight. 318.29 Troy Oz.
