Description
This is an interesting old wood sculpture of a female ancestor rendered in a highly stylized form, the hands pointed towards the heavens which is commonly known as a prayer for rain and a symbol of the NOMMO cult, and with an encrusted surface that suggests use on a shrine.Dogon peoples, Mali , West Africa. The sculpture measures 19 inches tall x 3 inches wide. Provenance: A Private New Jersey collection.
