Item Details
Description
This is a Midland Terminal Railway Adams and Westlake post mount switch lantern. This Colorado standard gauge railroad ran from Divide, Colorado to Cripple Creek, Colorado, and was the only standard gauge railway to originally reach the Cripple Creek gold district. Brass tag on chimney shows patent dates of 1886, 1888, and 1895. Welded tag clearly shows MID. T. RY. and has been highlighted in gold letters at some point in its life. Has two original green and two red lenses in fine condition. Clip-in fount is correct for the piece, which also has its correct burner and a glass inner Pyrex chimney with no cracks. Top chimney opens and closes properly. Originally obtained by the consignor from the collection of a long time well-known Western/Colorado railroad enthusiast. An absolutely stunning piece that is impossible to find!
