Item Details
Description
mid 19th century, 151 x 72 cm, Central Asia, South Tibet
A Tibetan khaden from Khampa Dzong. In the middle of the dark-blue field there is a disc medallion with red meandering lattices in the corners. The small white cones distributed in widely spaced offset rows across the field are called “belak” in Tibet (translation: frog’s feet). The two-panel border consists of a narrow inner pearl border and a blue-and-white main border with a reciprocal meandering vine.
Slight signs of age and wear, low spots in the pile, good overall condition.
