Item Details
Description
A tie-dye ensemble, dyed by The Lovin' Spoonful founder, John Sebastian, and his wife Catherine Sebastian.
The long-sleeved cotton top (dyed by Catherine) features a blue and magenta tie-dye pattern, labeled "Made in France - Pur Coton," no size present. The corduroy flare pants (dyed by Sebastian) feature a blue, teal, and magenta tie-dye pattern, no size or label present.
The ensemble was dyed, c. late 1960s- early 1970s, at the 46-acre artistic community near Studio City called "The Farm." At The Farm, Sebastian was nicknamed "guitar fingers" due to his tight grip on his fabric (strength gained from playing the guitar) during the tie-dye process.
