Description
These three fragments are from one panel of a two-panel kilim of unknown initial length. The original finish is only preserved at one end. A reconstruction attempt joined the fragments to produce a cohesive overall impression.
This kilim was published by Rageth as early as 1999 after being examined by ETH Zurich. The results of the C-14 analysis indicated that it was made in the 18th century. It belongs to a very small group with strictly geometric architectural niches on an apricot-coloured ground. All four published examples are fragments. Only the kilim in the Vok collection has fragments of both panels preserved.
Brown fabric backing only along the edges of the fragments. One side and one end finish are completely backed with fabric. Provenance: Rabe Collection, Berlin
