Description
This large two-panel kilim was probably woven by a Hotamis tribal group in the Aksaray region. In the red field, ten flat horizontal star-filled guls are arranged in horizontal rows of two designs each. Their thin blue outlines bear small blossoms on short stems. Between the primary designs there are horizontal rows consisting of six funnel shapes each. A vine with triangular serrated blossoms and hooks undulates in a zig-zag pattern through the wide white lateral borders. The four-band elems feature hexagons with two different interior designs. The smaller hexagons appear as halved forms in the horizontal rows and form a complete motif with the half forms of the next row, resulting in vertical rows.
Signs of age and wear, a number of rewoven areas.
