This elegant cushion face of silk velvet and metal threads was woven in one of the workshops in Lyon. An ogival medallion composed of lively golden yellow leaves and blossoms with a silver diamond in the centre floats freely in the red central field. The silver corner designs and the two horizontal panels at the upper and lower ends are designed with analogous motifs. They are framed by a narrow yellow and red border with small diamonds and spheres.

The cushion face has been produced in the relief technique. The red velvet sections stand out from the yellow silk ground in a three dimensional effect. Bullion embroidery with silver threads was used for the silver sections. A pair was sold by us in our auction A 103.

Very well preserved. Mounted onto a fabric backing and framed.
