Description
second half 19th century, 124 x 70 cm, East Caucasus, Kuba

Judging by the style of its designs and its palette, this very rare sumakh vagireh belongs to the Zeikhur group. Various palmettes and rosettes as well as a large central diamond medallion are seen in the blue field, surrounded by small blossoms. There are also two white ewers and several human figures drawn to a miniature scale. The potential appearance of the main border is demonstrated by the wide yellow stripe at the lower end of the field.

Good condition, original finishes all around.
