Description
early 19th century, 46 x 123 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan

A Tekke torba from the Akhal oasis with twelve large primary guls, chemche secondary guls, a kochanak border and a narrow elem which retains remnants of the decorative fringe at the lower end. Very fine weave, velvety wool, luminous colours.

Restored upper right corner, one major repiled area at the upper right end. Original sides, minimally reduced at the bottom, original upper finish. Provenance: Peter Hoffmeister Collection, Dorfles-Esbach
